Footballer suspended and forced to apologise to team - his offence? He voted BNP

From yesterday's Mirror Football

Leicester defender Wayne Brown has been forced into making a grovelling apology - after voting BNP at the General Election.

Brown was suspended by the Foxes for their play-off games with Cardiff following a stormy row with team-mate Lloyd Dyer and coach Chris Powell.

The 32-year-old revealed he had voted for BNP last week and was involved in a heated clash with Dyer after training.

And former England international Powell also confronted Brown before team-mates pulled them apart.

Leicester boss Nigel Pearson took swift action by suspending the centre-half for the two legs against the Bluebirds.

And Brown was hauled in for a meeting after Wednesday’s agonising defeat and told to apologise to the squad.

Have we not learned from history? have we so soon forgotten where else in Europe people were forced to publicly apologise for their thoughts, and indeed were punished for them?

Totally agree Sarah but then like hundreds of thousands in this country I would not admit to voting BNP to family or friends. Why is that you may ask. Well have a look at the BBC website with another embarassing photo. this time of Steve Batkin a BNP councillor next to two fat thugs with low iQs doing a Nazi salute by a war memorial.
Would you admit to voting for that gang? The BNP needs to become professional and stop the own goals. I sometimes think the whole BNP like the German nationalist party is a state run honeytrap.

Thanks for drawing the Batkin photograph to our attention Anonymous. As I've said on my blog, the BNP needs to purge itself of neo-Nazi associations and distance itself from this sort of nonsense for good, otherwise it's got no realistic future.

Anon, it's the own goals of the establishmnet party/ies that justify your BNP vote. Most importantly, their policies mean an end to our people. If your family and friends vote for one of that crowd make THEM justify their vote!

The footballer shouldn't have apologised for the same reason: some things are more important than 'causing a scene'.
